Alexander Kobrin

The Optometrists:

Alexander Kobrin is owned by two Optometrists Clyde Alexander and Brian Kobrin. Brian and Clyde studied together in Johannesburg and have been in practice for over 20 years. Clyde started the practice in Potters Bar in 1998 and Brian joined in 2001. They share the same philosophy in that they want to offer their patients the very best in eye care. Much time and finance is invested in the practice to ensure that their patients are given a thorough and professional eye examination with the most up to date equipment available.

Brian Kobrin practises the general optometry with a particular interest in contact lens fitting. Achieving optimum health of the eye and vision is of the utmost importance. Brian sees our Diabetic Patients and is able to offer retinal screenings which is invaluable in the early detection of glaucoma. Regular checks of the retina ensure that any eye health related issues can be dealt with.

Clyde Alexander has specialised in paediatric optometry. His doctoral thesis was in the development of eye movements in reading. Clyde's field of expertise encompasses binocular vision and its affect on a child's learning potential. The development of a child's eyes is critical to a child's well being and learning.

Mauri Procida studied with both Brian and Clyde in South Africa, he is constantly updating his professional education and has a Diploma in Sports Vision. Mauri continues the work Clyde does with the children by giving visual therapy and ensuring that the eye care programme your child is on is running to plan.

The Dispensing Opticians:

Bina and Purdy our two highly skilled Dispensing Opticians help to select the frame and lenses that will best suit the patient's optical needs and lifestyle. Their knowledge of lens types and frame materials comes with years of experience. The practice is stocked with a wide range of the latest high quality frames and we are able to offer you the finest lens technology to ensure optimum vision.

Our laboratory is located on our premises in Potters Bar and many spectacle prescriptions can be supplied within 24 hours. For patients who travel from far, lenses can be done within an hour if we have the prescription in stock.

Your first point of contact with the practice will be with either Pam or Michelle at reception. Pam has been at the practice longest, she worked for the previous owner and has been at 177 Darkes Lane for over 30 years! We welcome Michelle our newest member to the team. Michelle worked for a major hotel group before and coming from a hospitality background is used to putting the client's needs first.
