Brian Kobrin practises the general optometry with a particular interest in pathology screening and contact lens fitting. Achieving optimum health of the eye and vision is of the utmost importance. Brian sees our diabetic patients and is able to offer retinal screenings with state of the art optical coherence tomography and fundus photography which is invaluable in the early detection of glaucoma and other retinal conditions. Regular checks of the retina and optic nerve ensure that any eye health related issues can be dealt with.
Clyde Alexander has specialised in paediatric optometry. His doctoral thesis was in the development of eye movements in reading. Clyde's field of expertise encompasses binocular vision and its affect on a child's learning potential. The development of a child's eyes is critical to a child's well being and learning.
In my role as an optical dispenser I assist patients to choose frames and lenses that are best suited for their prescription and look appealing. We have a very friendly team and I love being able to do what I am passionate about as well as constantly meeting new people. Having been with the practice for over 10 years I believe I offer a very professional service and can guarantee you will always be looked after.
Out of work I love spending time with my two beautiful daughters and husband.
Hello my name is Bina Shears, I graduated from Georgian College in Ontario, Canada in 1994 and came to England that same year. I have been working in optics ever since. I joined Alexander Kobrin in July 2006. I had a break when I got married in July 2010 and now work on a free lance basis.
Working at Alexander Kobrin has been a pleasure with lots of new experiences. The business has grown and new members of staff have joined the working family. Since our move to new premises above the original practice, I have been involved with Dr Alexander's diary and assisting him with the pre-screening part of the eye examination.
Few people can truly say they enjoy their work. I am lucky enough to say that I love what I do!
I have been working at the practice for over 30 years! Alexander Kobrin Opticians is lively and very busy, it is a unique practice where we do our best and succeed in helping so many people, this makes it a very interesting place to work. Every day I learn something new!
My spare time, which I do not have much of, is taken up with my family, particularly the grandchildren. I love knitting, sewing, cinema, reading and eating out.
I have been at Alexander Kobrin for 8 years now as a receptionist. I enjoy the busy hub of activity, most of all the teamwork and friendly colleagues. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and keeping fit.
I also enjoy going to the movies as do my colleagues! We have great fun critically reviewing the movies we have seen. I think that the practice is unique in combining expertise with exceptional patient care.
I have been working as a receptionist and front office co-ordinator for over three years . I enjoy my job which is varied and busy which makes my job interesting. The other staff members are always helpful and we work well as a team.
I joined the practice in March 2015 as a receptionist. As a receptionist you are the first point of contact the patient has as they walk through the door, I always try to ensure that everyone’s first optical experience is a friendly one. I enjoy being part of the Alexander Kobrin family, everyone is so warm and friendly. I am proud and privileged to work for such a wonderful company that not only offers a professional service but always puts the needs of their patients first.
I am married with two teenage boys. My family and friends are very important to me, so I like to spend anytime that I have free with them.
I have been part of the Alexander Kobrin family since 2012 whilst studying for my degree. Since graduating from Southampton University in 2016 with a MEnvSci (Master of Environmental Science) I have been working at the practice full time as an Optical Assistant. I work very closely with the Optometrists assisting with the pre-screening tests. I enjoy being part of the team and helping the patients with their needs.
In my spare time, I enjoy salsa dancing, playing the piano and going to the cinema with my friends.
